Francesa’s more than mean, he’s just bad

-

PUT IN non-clinical terms, Mike Francesa is just a bad guy.

Tuesday, he took a call from a 90-year-old gent who just wanted to share with Francesa’s audience that he was taken to a Yankees game when he was 6, where he was told that the fellow out there, Babe Ruth, would always be the greatest.

While the man’s numbers checked out — the man was born in 1928, thus was 6 when Ruth last played for the Yanks in 1934 — what difference did it make? He was a sweet soul on a sweet mission.

But Francesa tried to pin him down on the date, tried to catch him in a lie as if inspecting passports for the Vichy French. He tried to humiliate a 90-year-old caller.

His Excellency also continued to claim that Ruth’s “Called Shot” during the 1932 World Series — a lingering maybe — is known as “The Shot Heard ’Round the World.” Thus history, as per Bobby Thomson’s 1951 homer, has it wrong.

Monday, claiming Aaron Rodgers this season “has eight touchdowns and seven interceptions!” he shouted down a caller. More lost tapes. At that point Rodgers had 10 TDs and one INT.

He also told a caller that he doesn’t know how his app is selling, but knows it’s doing well. He explained that in the app business, numbers are protected like as “gold.” Yep, backers have invested in a business that doesn’t allow them to know if they’re successful.

And as a special man, he continues to have been bestowed special betting lines.

Last Friday Francesa again shaved a half-point in the important field-goal range, selecting the Patriots at -3 over the Chiefs. That line, all week, was -3½. When the Pats won, 43-40, “Let’s Be Honest” gave himself a bogus push rather than an honest loss. Thus, he went 0-3, not 0-2-1. He now stands 6-12.

But maybe he’s so special, his bookie doesn’t accept payment on losing bets. Just a bad guy.

(And thanks to #backaftathis on Twitter for again serving as a backup audio source and source of laughter.)
