Dolphins are a hot yes

SUNDAY
DOLPHINS (+3) over Lions: No matter what uniforms he’s worn during his vagabond career, Brock Osweiler has flat-out owned the Bears (3-0 vs. Chicago, lifetime). But as Otter intoned in Animal House: “Pre-med ... prelaw ... what’s the difference?” Now, we’re dealing with another hot-shot NFC North invader, exposed to the hot Miami sun. It’s a take. In Ryan Tannehill’s sustained absence, Dolphins — smarter than Lions — prevail, for one unit. JETS-Vikings Over 46¹/₂: This market opened slightly higher than current reads, the playdown broadly attributable to weather forecasts anticipating winds of upwards of 15 mph at MetLife. This is understandable, but a knee-jerk reaction that’s likely ill-advised. The Vikings’ defense plays with markedly more intensity at home. Living out of suitcases, they’ve allowed an average of almost 30 points per game. Should the Jets generate three-digit yardage of yield out of their ground game, expect respectable point production from both sides. Purple People Eaters, eh? JetsVikings flies high, for one unit.
LAST WEEK: 1-1. SEASON: 6-7.
