Vitriol media’s fault: Donald

- Yaron Steinbuch

President Trump blamed the media for the angry political climate sweeping the nation amid a spree of 10 suspected explosive devices sent to an array of his rivals.

“A very big part of the Anger we see today in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the Mainstream Media that I refer to as Fake News,” Trump tweeted Thursday, after reports that two devices were sent to former Vice President Joe Biden in Delaware and one to Robert De Niro in Tribeca.

“It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description. Mainstream Media must clean up its act, FAST!” the president added.

His comments came a day after CNN’s Manhattan offices were evacuated when a suspicious package addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan was discovered in the mailroom.

Brennan hit back at Trump with his own tweet.

“Stop blaming others. Look in the mirror. Your inflammatory rhetoric, insults, lies, & encouragement of physical violence are disgraceful,” he wrote Thursday.

“Clean up your act....try to act Presidential. The American people deserve much better. BTW, your critics will not be intimidated into silence,” Brennan added.

Trump used similar rhetoric at a political rally in Wisconsin Wednesday, saying “the media also has a responsibility to set a civil tone and to stop the endless hostility.”

And in Montana last week, Trump reminded the crowd that Rep. Greg Gianforte (R-Mont.) once assaulted a reporter, saying that “any guy that can do a body slam, he’s my kind of guy.”
