‘Brothel’ cops, DA in talks on plea

Six of the NYPD cops accused of running a prostitution and gambling ring are in plea talks with prosecutors, it was revealed in court on Thursday.

Last month, seven active cops and retired Detective Ludwig Paz — who authorities say masterminded the operation with wife Arelis Peralta — were arrested for their alleged roles in running a string of brothels in Queens, Brooklyn and Hempstead, LI, that generated $2 million in illegal profits.

In Queens Supreme Court Thursday, six of the men were offered plea deals ranging from probation to two- to six-year prison sentences, but their lawyers didn’t want to accept so early in the case.

A lawyer for Sgt. Steven Nieves rejected a no-jail plea deal — at least for now — because it would require Nieves “to plead guilty, which he is not doing,” Daniel Lynch said.

Police Officer Giancarlo Raspanti’s lawyer, Joseph Murre, said he wouldn’t agree to probation because he wanted to see the evidence that prosecutors have against his client.

“My client, hopefully, will never see a day of jail. We are going to do everything we can to keep him out of jail,” Murre said.

Nieves’ brother, Officer Cliff Nieves, and Sgt. Louis Failla were also offered nojail plea deals. Sgt. Carlos Cruz and Detective Giovanni Rojas-Acosta were offered two- to six-year plea deals.

None of the men accepted the offers.
