KNICKS GET SHOT TO MEASURE UP VS. CHAMPS

- By KEVIN ARMSTRONG

The Warriors landed in New York on a hot streak Thursday night, and Stephen Curry, fresh off scoring 51 points in his last outing, knows he can get even hotter at the Garden, where he scored his career high of 54 points five years ago.

“Almost kind of like last night,” Curry said when asked about the memory from Feb. 27, 2013. “Everything you throw up just goes in. You kinda feel the buzz from the Knicks fans. It’s like a love-hate, they love the show but it is against their team.”

Curry’s big night in New York came against Mike Woodson’s Knicks. Curry played all 48 minutes in a contest the Knicks won, 108-105. He hit 11 of 13 3pointers, and knocked down 18-of-28 shots from the field in all. Curry handed out seven assists and collected three steals, as well.

“It’s what you love about road atmospheres,” Curry said, “and it’s even elevated that much more at the Garden.”

Curry put up 51 points in just three quarters against Washington on Wednesday night. It was a season high as the Warriors have rolled out to a 4-1 start to the season. In doing so, he hit 11-of-16 shots from behind the arc.

“He is just driven,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. “He loves to play and he loves to work. He’s constantly trying to get better in every aspect with his skill work, his body, his conditioning, his mind. I think he has come into this season in an unbelievable frame of mind. He’s rolling early.

“He works as hard as anybody,” Kerr added.

The Warriors beat Washington, 144-122, and have scored 100 points or more in each game so far.

When asked what he tells his players about the New York night life as the Warriors play the Knicks Friday and the Nets Sunday, Kerr maintained he wasn’t looking to slow anyone down. He joked he would be spreading his wealth around the city.

“They should go out and enjoy the night life,” he said, “and then go out and play well.”
