Son of TV anchor to testify at slay trial

- Rebecca Rosenberg

The son of FOX-5 news anchor Rosanna Scotto iexpected to take the stand against his ex-pal James Rackover, who is accused of the grisly murder of a young Connecticut man. Rackover allegedly made a damning admission to Louis Ruggiero Jr., 24, after killing Joseph Comunale, sources said. It’s unclear when Ruggiero will testify.

Prosecutors on Thursday showed jurors several photographs pulled off Rackover’s phone of the two pals hanging out, identifying Ruggiero by name. Ruggiero’s name was also shown as a contact in Rackover’s cellphone.

Ruggiero had his own brush with the law when he swiped a Chanel purse from a club in 2015.

He snatched the pocketbook from under a bench at Marquee on 10th Avenue and was arrested when he walked outside. Cops also found cocaine and a fake ID on him, according to court papers.

Rackover, 27, and pal Lawrence Dilione, who will be tried separately, allegedly beat and stabbed Comunale to death inside a tony apartment on East 59th Street.

The men stuffed the body in the trunk of Rackover’s Mercedes, drove it to Oceanport, NJ, and dumped it in a shallow grave behind a florist shop, according to prosecutors.

The posh apartment and Mercedes were allegedly paid for by James’ alleged lover, celebrity jeweler Jeffrey Rackover.

The murder trial continues Monday in Manhattan Supreme Court.
