Declawed Jags eye rebound

- By Mark Cannizzaro mcannizzaro@nypost.com

WHEN WE last heard from the struggling Jaguars, one of their players had to be restrained by a teammate from inciting a brawl inside their locker room after last Sunday’s 20-7 loss to the Texans. The Jaguars, losers of three straight since a 3-1 start, are a confused, restless team in crisis as they play the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles in London. If ever there existed a crossroads game for a team it is Sunday’s game in London for the 3-4 Jaguars — who’ve watched as the Texans, winners of their last five, seize control of the AFC South. London might be the perfect place for the Jaguars to cure what ails them, considering England has become a sort of home-field advantage for them. Jacksonville has played in London more than any NFL team and actually has developed a fan base there, winning its past three games across the Atlantic Ocean. Plus, Jaguars coach Doug Marrone has fond memories from being a player on the London Monarchs of NFL Europe. Perhaps all of those good vibes will help the Jags restore their season of hope. Just months removed from nearly beating the Patriots to get to the Super Bowl, the fall has been a hard one for the Jaguars, who were considered one of the top teams in the league. This week, Marrone tried a tactic to refocus his players when he gathered them together before a practice and showed them video clips of the three games they won earlier this season. It was meant to remind his players of who they can be, not the unraveled mess they’ve been the past few weeks, turning the ball over on offense and giving up big plays on defense. “I showed them a couple clips about, ‘Hey, listen, this is the team that we want to be from this year,’ pictures of when we’re excited and we’re making plays,’’ Marrone told reporters. “We’re not playing like we want to play or should play.”
