What the deli’s this?!

-

Just one day after 11 people were slain in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, Queens state Senate hopeful John Liu posted a bizarre video of himself noshing on a pastrami sandwich while urging Americans not to “point fingers” in the wake of the tragedy.

“Truly horrific the tragedy in Pittsburgh yesterday,” a napkin-bibbed Liu (left) says in the 20-second clip posted to Twitter.

“We have problems, but rather than point fingers, we need to come together and figure out how to move forward.”

Republican activist Arthur Schwartz called Liu’s video political pandering at its worst.

“‘Jews like pastrami so this will resonate with them.’ — Moronic New York democrat politician,” Schwartz tweeted Monday.

Liu’s campaign said the video wasn’t intended to cause anyone indigestion.

“There was no intent to be flip about a national tragedy,” campaign spokeswoman Heather Stewart said.

“John’s reference to fingerpointing was that, because this act of hate was so repulsive to everyone universally, we should come together in unity and address the hatred constructively.”

The campaign said the former city comptroller made the clip while on lunch break at Ben’s Deli in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center in the heavily Jewish 11th Senate District, where he’s a favorite to beat former Sen. Tony Avella.

Avella, who was defeated in the Democratic primary by Liu, is still running on the Independence and Women’s Equality Party lines.

Stewart said Liu eats a pastrami sandwich at least once a week, which he takes dry without mustard.

Liu on Monday posted another 20-second clip supporting the state Reproductive Health Act while eating what appears to be a bagel and lox.
