JETS NOTES

-

“Just shooting ourselves in the foot,” quarterback Sam Darnold said. “The penalties killed us. I thought if we don’t have the penalties, if we don’t have the early false starts, the game is a different game. It’s just about controlling the penalties and controlling what we can control to make the game easier.”

The Jets rushed for just 57 yards on Sunday as they failed to get anything going on the ground. They averaged just 2.4 yards per attempt.

Since rushing for 323 yards against the Broncos on Oct. 7, they have gotten worse each week — 107 yards, 71 yards and then 57.

“That’s a good question,” Bowles said when asked what has happened to the rushing attack. “I didn’t think it was good at all yesterday. I thought they beat us upfront. They beat us to the punch and we missed some assignments that we’ve got to correct. We’ve got to keep grinding at it. We can’t be up and down. We’ve got to be consistent at it. If we want to throw the ball consistently, we’ve got to be able to run it consistently.”

Former Jets WR Terrelle

Pryor is visiting the Bills, according to multiple reports. ESPN reported Buffalo had offered him a contract. … Bowles had no update on NT Steve McLendon, who left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. Safety Marcus Maye, who broke his thumb two weeks ago, said he was sore after playing Sunday, but his thumb was no worse than before he played. ... The Jets signed CB Juston Burris to the practice squad. Burris, a 2016 fourth-round pick, was cut by the team on Saturday.
