OFFENSE

This was putrid. The Jets managed just 199 yards and went 1-for-12 on third down. They had 1 total yard in the first quarter. QB Josh McCown (17-of34, 135 yards, 2 INTs, 35.8 rating) did not have any magic in his first start of the season. To be fair, he did not get much help. The line was terrible. The running game was inconsistent and his leading wide receiver had four catches for 18 yards. Brutal.

DEFENSE

The defense can’t blame the offense this week. The Bills eviscerated the Jets for 451 total yards, averaging 6.2 yards per play. QB Matt Barkley (15-of-25, 232 yards, 2 TDs, 117.4 rating) had the game of his life. Some guy named Robert Foster had three catches for 105 yards. LeSean McCoy (26 rushes, 113 yards, 2 TDs) looked reinvigorated. An offensive tackle even scored on them. It was an embarrassing effort from this usually decent group.

SPECIAL TEAMS

The Bills hit a fake punt in the first quarter that kept a drive going that resulted in a touchdown. It was a huge play early in the game that got the Bills rolling. The only reason this grade is not an F is because kicker Jason Myers hit a 55-yard field goal.

COACHING

Is this the end for Todd

Bowles? These are the types of games that get coaches fired. He and his staff were thoroughly outcoached and you can’t pin this one on having a rookie quarterback. The Jets did not show up early, and before you knew it they were down 31-0. Jeremy Bates had no answers again to get the offense on track. The defense got carved up by Matt Barkley. Something has to change.
