‘This Is Us,’ without the teens

DESPITE its inclusionary title, there’s awards-season angst brewing behind the scenes at hit “This Is Us,” Page Six has learned, as some of the NBC show’s younger stars are being snubbed.

For actors to be eligible for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, performers must appear in more than half of a series’ episodes. As a result, series favorites Niles Fitch, Logan Shroyer and Hannah Zeile — who play the teenage versions of the adult characters on the multigenerational show — did not log enough screen time to be included, with some missing by a hair. Sources said the smash could’ve given them more screen time after the same issue cropped up last year.

Last year, the main cast was miffed when several young stars were left out. Child actress Mackenzie Hancsicsak (who plays the younger version of Chrissy Metz’s character) thanked Metz on Twitter during the 2018 awards for “very graciously & selflessly giving up her plus one so I could attend the SAG awards.” Hancsicsak continued, “Some of the kid ensemble didn’t appear in enough episodes 2 qualify, but when the adults found out, they stepped up & offered their plus one. Thank U!”

We hear that Milo Ventimiglia felt so bad, he bought the younger actors replica awards.

“Everyone complained last year,” a showbiz source told us. “It wasn’t fair and it was supposed to be remedied.” The source added, “People are upset it happened again. It was very close. They needed one more episode or [a few more] minutes and they would have been included.”

We hear the actors are still eligible for individual categories, but will not be listed under the ensemble nomination. The show won the prize for best drama series last year, as well as an award for Sterling K. Brown.

Brown has said of the cast, “It is like a family. It seems so cliché, like, ‘Do they really love each other as much as it seems?’ The answer is yes!” Reps did not get back to us.
