Falcons without LB Jones for Thanksgivi­ng

Falcons linebacker Deion Jones has been ruled out of Thursday night’s game at the Saints.

Jones came off injured reserve last week after missing two months with a broken right foot. He was inactive against Dallas last Sunday.

Coach Dan Quinn said earlier in the week the goal was to have Jones regain full confidence in his foot so he could take advantage of his full potential.

Panthers’ Trocheck has surgery after ugly injury

Panthers center Vincent Trocheck is out indefinite­ly after undergoing surgery to repair his ankle, which was fractured in a gruesome fall Monday.

Marlins trade Peters, who had been DFA’d

Marlins left-hander Dillon Peters was traded to the Angels for minor league right-handed reliever Tyler Stevens.

The 26-year-old Peters had been designated for assignment by Miami. He went 3-4 with a 6.10 ERA in 13 games, including 11 starts, for the Marlins in 2017-18.

Sports betting comes to Pennsylvan­ia, Rhode Island

Sports betting has reached two more northeaste­rn states: Pennsylvan­ia and Rhode Island.

Bets are already being taken in Pennsylvan­ia, making it the seventh state where it’s allowed. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course near Hershey is in its first week of taking bets after getting the green light from state regulators.

Parx Casino in suburban Philadelph­ia, SugarHouse Casino in Philadelph­ia and Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh also could open sportsbook­s in the coming weeks.

Twin River Casino in Rhode Island announced the first bets will be accepted at its Lincoln location starting Monday. Twin River expects to begin sports betting at its Tiverton location in December.
