A Break in Trump-Bashing: Cuomo’s Plea for Funds
■ Gov. Cuomo ran for another term against President Trump (“Build the Tunnel — Now,” Editorial, Nov. 30).
He spent millions on advertising that portrayed Trump as an ultraright-wing conservative whose values will destroy New York, setting us back decades, and only Cuomo could save us from this disaster.
After winning reelection, he goes to Washington hat-in-hand to meet with President Trump on behalf of the $29 billion Gateway tunnel. He wants Washington to pick up half the tab for the $13 billion first phase. This would pay for two new Hudson River tunnels.
The governor forgot that you get more with honey than you do with vinegar. Larry Penner Great Neck
■ Our inept governor went to Washington and asked our president for help. He did nothing but bash Trump during his disgraceful run for a third term.
At least the president showed some class and said kind words about Cuomo. He should have kicked him out of the White House, but that’s not his style.

■ I am a New Yorker, born and bred. The original tunnels were designed, engineered and built by the Pennsylvania Railroad using private-sector money.
Today, the region is going hat-in-hand to every level of government to drum up the money for the new tunnels. The groveling is unseemly.
Here’s a better idea: If the new tunnels are so important to commerce in the metropolitan area, let businesses in the region provide the capital necessary to fund the project. It’s their employees who need to get from home to the office.
Amazon ought to be at the forefront of the effort, since it will be the prime beneficiary of expanded and reliable transportation services. Alan Tanenbaum Grantham, NH
