Islanders gaining faith in Barclays

If the Islanders end up having to play postseason games at Barclays Center, this weekend’s victories over the Avalanche and Wild in front of spirited crowds offer some hope for success.

Late last month, The Post’s Brett Cyrgalis reported commissioner Gary Bettman would decide whether the playoffs will be contested at Barclays or Nassau Coliseum. In the succeeding weeks, Nassau County executive Laura Curran and state assemblyman Ed Ra have written letters to Bettman, lobbying to have the games on Long Island.

“I don’t really think about that,” Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock said. “The league is going to look after that. The last two games here have been pretty full, but obviously the atmosphere at the Coliseum has been electric all year, too. So it is what it is, and we’ll just be ready to play wherever they put us.”

The Islanders are 11-6-2 at Barclays Center and 6-1-2 at the Coliseum.

After Saturday’s game against the Oilers in Brooklyn, the remaining regular-season slate will be played on Long Island.

“I know Bruce a little bit just through the coaching associations,” Trotz said. “But I do know when I was in Washington, everybody was calling me Bruce for the first year.”

Boudreau coached the Capitals from 2007-11, Trotz from 2014-18.
