King sees AOC as the ‘prime’ culprit

-

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow far-left Democrats are to blame for Amazon’s cancellation of plans for an office complex in Long Island City, Rep. Peter King said Sunday. “If Joe Crowley was still the congressman, it wouldn’t have happened,” sasaid King (R-Long Island), referring to the veteran lawmaker who lost his Bronx/ Queens seat to Ocasio-Cortez in last year’s Democratic primary.

Speaking on “The Cats Roundtable” on AM 970, King (left) also blasted the Democrats who took control of the state Senate last month.

“The Democrats now control everything,” he said. “If the Republicans controlled the state Senate, this would not have happened.”

Amazon’s decision followed the nomination of an outspoken critic of the online retail giant, state Sen. Michael Gianaris (D-Long Island City), to a state board with veto power over a portion of the company’s development deal.

King called Amazon’s pullout a “disaster” for the city and state, which stood to reap $27 billion in revenue in exchange for $3 billion in tax breaks and other incentives.

“It’s like putting a sign up that you can’t do business in New York,” King said. “Nothing is ever perfect, but in this case, it was as close to it as you’re going to get.”

Ocasio-Cortez (right), meanwhile, defended her opposition to the Amazon deal duringg a Saturday inauguration ceremony in The Bronx.

“We do not have to settle for scraps in the greatest city in the world,” the democratic socialist said.
