Beltran already drafting pointers

- By DAN MARTIN and GEORGE A. KING III

TAMPA — Carlos Beltran spent his first day at Yankees camp on Tuesday in his new role as a special adviser with the team.

He’ll only be at George M. Steinbrenner Field until Friday, but he’ll be around the team — at several levels — throughout the season.

“I told [general manager Brian] Cashman that I just want to be a resource for players,’’ Beltran said. “Hopefully, they see me as a person they can come and talk baseball with.”

Beltran, who retired after winning a World Series with Houston in 2017, said he’ll be in New York and make trips to watch minor leaguers.

Beltran said he picked up on some things outfield prospect Estevan Florial was doing both defensively and at the plate and that he planned to talk to Clint Frazier.

“I think there are some things they would benefit from,’’ said Beltran, who spent two-plus seasons in The Bronx from 2014-16 and from 2005-11 in Flushing with the Mets before being traded in July 2011.

Zack Britton replaced the “H’’ with a “K’’ at the end of his first name recently, but he hasn’t changed his approach.

“My mindset doesn’t change,’’ said Britton, who signed a three-year deal worth $39 million to return to the Yankees and pitch in front of closer Aroldis Chapman, instead of closing for other teams.

As per Yankees team rules Frazier had to remove his nose stud before taking the field for the team’s first full-squad workout Tuesday ... Didi Gregorius fielded ground balls at short during infield drills but didn’t make a throw as he recovers from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.
