Miranda hub’s new fame an NYPD pain
The honeymoon is over. The NYPD hunk who married country singer Miranda Lambert has been taken off patrol duty — because cops don’t want to deal with the public’s sudden infatuation with him, police sources told The Post.
“It would be hard to do his job with photographers and reporters hounding him,” one of the sources said, adding that autograph seekers are also a concern.
Officer Brendan McLoughlin is now working as a driver shuttling around higher-ups from his Mid- town South Precinct, which includes Times Square, the sources said. They insisted the move was not punitive, and he still has his gun and shield.
Lambert, 35, and McLoughlin, 27, got hitched in secret, with Lambert announcing the nuptials on Instagram just after Valentine’s Day.
They reportedly met while McLoughlin was working security outside ABC’s Midtown studios, where Lambert performed on “Good Morning America” Nov. 2.
Helping to protect celebs has apparently been a typical assignment for the photogenic patrolman — he has been snapped in the past escorting actor-singer Jared Leto and former Mets and Yankees baseball star Darryl Strawberry in Manhattan.
“THANK YOU to NY’s finest for their kindness + incredible support today!! #MarsAcrossAmerica,” Leto tweeted April 2, along with a photo of himself and McLoughlin wearing an ear-to-ear grin inside Penn Station.
Actress Busy Philipps said she has seen McLoughlin posted outside the stage entrance to ABC’s studio “multiple times.”
“Here’s my question: Did Miranda Lambert meet the hot cop doing GMA . . . outside of GMA?” Philipps said in a series of Instagram stories, according to US Weekly. “I’ve only seen him there . . . multiple times.”
News of McLoughlin’s reassignment comes one day after it was revealed that he previously got another woman pregnant while allegedly cheating on an ex-f iancée.
McLoughlin was engaged to Staten Islander Jackie Bruno, who found out about her fiancé’s alleged wandering eye from the baby mama, Kaihla Rettinger.
Rettinger gave birth to McLoughlin’s son on Nov. 5— three days after Lambert met the beefcake cop.
