ISIS gal legal war looming

- Ben Feuerherd, Ruth Brown

The lawyer for the father of American-born “ISIS bride” Hoda Muthana filed a lawsuit Thursday to challenge the US government’s decision to deny her entry back into the country.

The attorney, Hassan Shibly, filed the suit on behalf of Ahmed Muthana against Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, President Trump and Attorney General William Barr in Washington, DC.

Shibly argues in the suit that Muthana is a native-born American citizen and revoking her right to live here would set a dangerous precedent.

“US citizenship is guaranteed to all individuals born within the United States; allowing the US government to unilaterally strip citizens of that right ... endangers the rights of all United States birthright citizens,” the suit states.

The Trump administration on Wednesday declared that Muthana (inset) — who fled her home in Alabama to join ISIS in Syria in 2014 but is now begging to be allowed back — is not a citizen, based on the claim that her dad was a Yemeni diplomat when she was born.

I strongly agree with The Post that under no circumstances should such people be allowed to re-enter our country (“Don’t Let ISIS Bride Back,” Editorial, Feb. 19).

Any individual who betrays our country is no longer American. He or she is a treasonous creep who has the blood of our soldiers and other innocent people on his or her hands.

Those very ignorant individuals should automatically lose citizenship; otherwise, we are encouraging more to join our enemy under the impression that they could be let back into our country. David Yazdan Monmouth Beach, NJ

Muthana wants a “second chance” and to “come home.” Our reply must be that wherever she is now is her home. It’s the result of her own free choice.

Any official who allows her to re-enter our country is spitting on those American servicemen who didn’t have a “second chance” and returned under an American flag. Thomas Nolan Staten Island

Muthana was not a budding adolescent when she declared her vicious beliefs and, worse, acted upon them (“It’s wrong, but she has rights,” Andrew McCarthy, Feb. 20).

She made a choice and did not like the result. “War is hell,” to quote a general who knew firsthand. Hoda made the decision to jump in with both feet. She picked the wrong side and now has the temerity to beg for her and her child’s return.

The seeds of jihadism sow deep and eventually reap their poison. To let her back into our country is risking too much.

As the president has stated on many occasions, the United States has been too lax in the past, causing our nation to appear foolish on the international stage. This situation presents itself as a challenge: How will we respond to Muthana? Theresa Falco Paterson, NJ

My day was ruined by seeing the photo of this traitor who joined ISIS, traveled to Syria and now wants to come back to the nation that she hates.

She called for her followers to rent trucks and run over Americans. She should never be allowed to set her feet on American soil again. Tom Stagg Brooklyn

Bravo to Karol Markowicz (“Slam door on traitor,” PostOpinion,” Feb. 19). Leaving one’s country of origin for a perceived better life and leaving while calling for the destruction of that country and its occupants are drastically different decisions.

An expatriate may have found that the grass is not always greener and be welcomed home with open arms. But a traitor should be jailed or executed.

Second chances should be reserved for law-abiding citizens whose mistakes taught them a valuable life lesson. They should not be extended to a terrorist on the losing side who is looking to better her now-oppressive existence.

Unfortunately, her poor choices condemned not only her life, but that of her innocent son. Todd Lawrence Jolly Montclair, NJ

I would not be all that surprised if our government allows Muthana to return to America after her utter disregard for the well-being of our country and its citizens.

I’m not holding my breath as this plays out — only hoping that if she is allowed to return, the courts will come at her swift and strong. Joe Salvatore Blue Point

Muthana claims she was brainwashed while young and made a mistake. Yet she told others to kill as many Americans as possible. I guess that was just another mistake. She married not just one ISIS fighter, but a total of three.

Now she suggests that America should forgive her and give her a second chance. There is an old saying: “You made your bed, now lie in it.” Do not let her back, plain and simple. Kim Cody Whitestone

Let Muthana experience the lack of personal freedom that comes with living her life in the Middle East.

Try Saudi Arabia, where women are now allowed to drive. You can’t get much better than that. Gerard Moore Ocean View. NJ
