The gunman who allegedly killed 50 people at two mosques in New Zealand was on his way to commit a third massacre when he was stopped by cops, authorities said Wednesday.

New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush said the killer was headed to another site when two officers in Christchurch cut short a training session, tracked him down, rammed his vehicle and took him into custody.

“We strongly believe we stopped him on the way to a further attack,” Bush said. “So lives were saved by our staff.”

The cops nabbed Brenton Tarrant 21 minutes after getting a call about the shooting.

The unidentified officers have been hailed for their courage be- cause Tarrant, 28, was heavily armed and had homemade bombs in his car.

Meanwhile, the nation’s prime minister on Tuesday called for social-media companies to take responsibility for what is posted on their Web sites.

Jacinda Ardern, in an address to Parliament, said the government will “look at the role social media played” in disseminating live video of attacks.

Video of Friday’s attacks was live-streamed on Facebook and viewed hundreds of times while the carnage was ongoing.

The footage remained available for hours afterward as Facebook, YouTube and others scrambled to erase it.
