Gut check: Voit likely back to lineup today

Barring a last-minute setback, Luke Voit, who has been on the shelf since suffering an abdominal strain running the bases on June 29 against the Red Sox in London, will be activated from the injured list in time for Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium.

Infielder Breyvic Valera, who was promoted from Triple-A Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre on July 7 and started at second base that day against the Rays, was optioned back following Friday night’s 4-0 win over the Blue Jays. Valera didn’t play in the game.

Voit spent the All-Star break working out in Tampa and has satisfied the medical staff there that he is ready to return.

“He has passed all his things down in Tampa and had a light workout [Friday morning] there. He is coming here with the idea that he will be activated [Saturday],’’ Aaron Boone said.

The Yankees are 5-3 since Voit went down. DJ LeMahieu, who started at first base Friday night, has played four games at first while Edwin Encarnacion (three games) and Mike Ford (once) have also helped out in Voit’s absence.

While Voit contributed heavily to the Yankees (58-31) having the best record in the AL, their best defensive infield is LeMahieu at first, Gleyber Torres at second, Didi Gregorius at short and Gio Urshela at third. That is the way Boone went Friday night behind starting pitcher Domingo German.

In 78 games, Voit hit .280 with 17 homers and 50 RBIs. While he was hitting .351 (20-for-57) in his past 15 games, his power numbers have shrunk. Voit hit one homer and drove in six runs in those 15 games.

➤ With his trademark “#startspreadingthenews” hash tag, Gregorius tweeted following Friday’s win by paying homage to winning pitcher German with an ant emoji (your guess is as good as The Post’s), used a parrot to acknowledge Encarnacion’s threerun double (Encarnacion rounds the bases on homers with an imaginary parrot on his right shoulder) and thanked Chad Green, who pitched the f inal two innings, with broccoli (a green vegetable).

Asked if he would divulge his secret over why he didn’t tweet after first-half wins, Gregorius laughed and told The Post, “There was no secret. I wasn’t playing for the start of the first half. I didn’t want to make it about me.” ➤ The Yankees didn’t homer for the second time in the past 38 games. Friday night was the second game this year at Yankee Stadium in which neither team homered.

➤ Boone said he has spoken to Doc Gooden this year and Friday was asked for his reaction to the former Mets and Yankees pitcher, whose June arrest for cocaine possession and driving under the influence was reported exclusively by The Post earlier in the day.

“I think he’s a beloved figure in our game, uniquely in this town with the Mets and Yankees,’’ Boone said. [Abuse] I think, it’s one of those things that touches everyone. My heart goes out to him.’’ ➤ The sold-out crowd of 47,162 was the largest of the season at the Stadium and the fifth sellout.
