Blas’ Disappearing Act: The Last Straw for NYers
THE ISSUE: Mayor de Blasio’s absence from the city during the widespread power outage in Manhattan.
Throughout Mayor de Blasio’s abysmal tenure, The Post has been the voice of reason regarding his policies (“Fire this arrogant failure of a mayor,” Editorial, July 15).
As the editorial correctly details, the man has been an abject failure in everything he touches, whether it concerns the school system, the Administration for Children’s Services, the New York City Housing Authority, the homeless issue and on and on.
The only thing this hypocrite is concerned about is going to the gym, rewarding his cronies and contributors and spending our hard-earned tax dollars.
Throwing him out of office would be addition by subtraction for this city. We can only hope the governor realizes this and acts on The Post’s suggestion to remove this fool from office before he does any further damage.

De Blasio’s absence from the city reinforced a belief that I’ve had for some time: If you hold an elected position and decide to run for president, you must first resign your position.
It’s fairly obvious that you can’t do the job that you were elected to do and also run for president.
Resigning would be the right thing to do for your constituents, and it would stop people with less of a chance from wasting their time seeking the nomination.

What an insult to the people of New York City that this bum has not been removed from office and that he continues to receive a salary.
Even when he is here, he’s useless. If he were here and the blackout happened early in the morning, would he even have gotten out of bed? Or skipped the Brooklyn gym? No way.
Let’s get rid of this bum now, and stop paying him for a job he’s too incompetent to do. You cannot be an absentee mayor to the most important city in the world.

De Blasio is either AWOL or late. He’s a buffoon and a charlatan.
When the Twin Towers went down on 9/11, Rudy was on hand, not seeking 20 votes in Iowa.
Thank Christ for City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, a man of integrity, who stood up in the crisis and got information out to the public.
Hopefully, he runs for mayor. He has my vote along with many others. De Blasio: Please, stay in Iowa forever.
Tom Stagg Brooklyn
Would The Post please stop using de Blasio as a daily punching bag? He’s not the best mayor the city has ever had, but he’s certainly not the worst.
And yes, like all the other ambitious Democrats with day jobs, the mayor has a right to be out of town campaigning for the highest office in the land, so we can get the 45th president out of there.
Let me remind you that crime is down, more trains are running on time and the Big Apple economy is thriving (including its real-estate market).
My recommendation is that The Post reprioritize and focus some of that criticism and ire on President Trump. A lot of us are a lot more angry at him (his policies, politics and personal behavior) than at Bill de Blasio.

The inept and incompetent mayor once again demonstrated his apathy toward his required responsibilities and disdain for his constituents.
It’s time for those he pretends to represent to turn out the lights on this mayor.

I applaud The Post’s editorial calling for the mayor to be fired, but it doesn’t go far enough.
New York City is far too complicated to be run by any one politician, who’s using it as a stepping stone to another political office.
New York needs to do away completely with an elected mayor and move to a city-manager form of government, where an elected city council hires a trained and experienced management professional to run the city.

Here’s hoping enough New Yorkers are familiar with Napoleonic history to recognize the irony that the part-time mayor was caught campaigning in a town called Waterloo when the power went out in Manhattan.
