Anchor quits after ‘blowup’

-

“GOOD Day Wake Up” anchor Sukanya Krishnan suddenly quit the show last week, posting online that it was “something I needed to do for myself and my family.” But Page Six spies tell us that they witnessed a blowup between her and the producers on the morning that she walked out. And now we’ve learned that Krishnan’s contract was being renegotiated at the time of the alleged dispute.

A source tells us that last Thursday — the morning Krishnan quit the early-morning Fox 5 show — “There were words exchanged [on the set], and then she had a meeting with management.”

We’re told that after returning to set from the meeting, she started telling people it would be her last day. “There was no goodbye, no mention on the show,” says the source. “Everybody was shocked.”

She filled in on “Good Day New York” after “Wake Up” wrapped, co-anchoring with Rosanna Scotto, and was then escorted out of the building (which a rep says is standard policy).

That afternoon, Krishnan — who appeared on the show for two years — posted on Facebook that it was “something I needed to do for myself and my family. I needed to VALUE and OWN my self worth,” concluding, “Loving myself and owning my life.”

Reached for comment, Krishnan told us, “There was no blowup — it was all amicable.”

She added, “It’s a business decision and [everybody who appears on TV] makes their own decision. I got offered a new contract, I weighed it with my husband and family and it wasn’t the right decision for me.”

Reps for Fox tell us of the situation, “She wanted to resign and take her life another way. I respect that. There was no drama here. There was no blowup whatsoever.”

Meanwhile, the show’s other anchor, Jennifer Lahmers, has also left to join the network’s revamped celebrity newsmagazine, “Extra, Extra,” so we’re told that Fox is “scrambling” to find replacements.
