Adams: Patriots showdown is ‘like a playoff game’

Jamal Adams rarely minces words when it comes to the Jets, or to the team they perennially are chasing in the AFC East.

This week is no different for the chatty Pro Bowl safety, as Gang Green’s defense prepares for a nationally televised matchup Monday night against Tom Brady and undefeated New England.

“Obviously it’s a big game, because it’s the next one. We’re not gonna get caught up in all the hype, but we understand what’s at stake, we understand this is a must-win for us,” Adams said after Thursday’s practice in Florham Park.

“It’s honestly like a playoff game. That’s how we’re treating it. It’s a big game, but again, we’re not gonna make anything bigger than what it is. Obviously, we’re playing a hell of an organization, that’s well-coached, so we gotta be ready.”

Adams added that the expected return of $85 million linebacker C.J. Mosley “puts a smile on my face,” especially against Brady. The three-time NFL MVP threw for 306 yards and two touchdown against the Jets in a 30-14 win Sept. 22.

“You’ve got to get him off his spot. Obviously he’s not a scrambler, but we have to create pressure in different ways and get after him,” Adams said. “Disguise it ... I don’t want to say trick him, because he’s been in this league for like 50 years, but maybe show him something different, a little disguise.”

Still, Beachum and TE Chris Herndon (hamstring) only did conditioning drills Thursday, leaving their game-time status in doubt.
