Inside look at Somers’ strip

-

SUZANNE Somers — who celebrated her 73rd birthday by posting a pic in her birthday suit that went viral — told Page Six the behind-the-scenes tale of the photo, and her spontaneous decision to bare it all.

Her loving husband snapped the nude shot as they strolled on their 73-acre California property and she took off her top. “We’ve lived in the same house for 43 years,” sprightly Somers said over the phone from Las Vegas, where she was celebrating her birthday. (She called from bed as she rested up to go see Lady Gaga with husband Alan Hamel and another couple, Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and his wife.) “We were wandering along one of the paths . . . and I took my top down,” the sensual septuagenarian said of stripping. “It was hot. The flowers were flowering, the bees were bee-ing . . . it just seemed like the right thing to do.” She joked of Hamel, her husband since 1977, “He’s seen me naked before.”

The shot was taken in front of Somers’ organic veggie garden. “I’m probably the only woman in Hollywood who’s enjoying aging,” she told us. “Nobody expects you to take your clothes off at 73. I’ve put a lot in naturally . . . I think [this picture] says that. It was a hot day and I wanted to take my shirt off.” The TV star-lifestyle guru’s latest book “A New Way to Age,” is out in January.

“I’m really happily married,” she said. “I’m in love . . . when you get to this age, love grows, it’s deeper . . . at this stage why not have fun? I’ve got him all juiced up on testosterone, I’m all juiced up on estrogen . . . it makes a difference! His skin is so good — he is sexy.”

In a recent Facebook Live post, Somers had Hamel on a massage table in camouflage underpants, “so we’ve both taken our clothes off in the last month!”

After the Gaga show, Somers planned to see Bad Company play with Lynyrd Skynyrd the next night, then head to Malibu for two weeks. It would be the first time in a year she hasn’t been on deadline for her book. “Maybe I’ll take some more naked pics?” she said.
