OFFENSE

This was one of the Jets’ worst performances in recent memory — and that is saying something. They managed just 154 total yards, 73 of them through the air. They went 2-for-11 on third down. QB Sam Darnold (11 of 32, 86 yards, 4 interceptions, 1 fumble, 1 safety, 3.6 QB rating) played his worst game as a pro. The offensive line was atrocious. Somehow, the Patriots had just one sack but Darnold was under constant pressure. WR Robby Anderson (1 catch, 10 yards) was dominated by Pats corner Stephon Gilmore.

DEFENSE

The Patriots scored on their first four possessions as the Jets struggled to get them off the field. The first drive went 78 yards on 16 plays and ate up half of the first quarter. Patriots QB Tom Brady (31 of 45, 249 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) was not perfect but picked apart the Jets at times. New England went 7-for-16 on third downs. The Jets failed to generate much of a pass rush, hitting Brady just three times.

SPECIAL TEAMS

This unit nearly escaped without any problems, but punt returner Braxton

Berrios fumbled in the fourth quarter. The rest of the special teams had very little impact.

COACHING

The Jets got whipped in every way possible, including coaching. Bill Belichick put on a clinic and Adam Gase had no answers. Gase has to figure out a way to get the pass protection fixed and stop the free runners the Patriots had Monday night.

Gregg Williams was in a tough spot with little help from the offense, but his unit needed to be better on third down.
