Injury removal burns Adams

- By BRIAN COSTELLO

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Jamal Adams was steamed after Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins — not at the Jets this time, but the concussion spotter who forced him to head to the locker room with just over a minute left in the game.

Adams sacked Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and tackled Kalen Ballage for a 3-yard loss with just over four minutes left. He said after that, the concussion spotter called down to the Jets sideline and said he needed to go to the locker room to be examined.

“I was upset because what if that was a crucial part of the game to where we’re in the ballgame and they take me out and I’m fine,” Adams said. Adams did not have a concussion. It was the end of an eventful week for the third-year safety, who was the subject of trade talks early last week and then expressed his displeasure with the Jets thinking about trading him. After the game, Adams was more subdued than usual and chose his words carefully.

“I just don’t want any more stories about me,” Adams said. “As crazy as this might sound to some, I’m not trying to be a distraction to this team. I’m just trying to win. I want to do everything I can to help this team win. It’s about us. It’s not about anybody else. It’s always going to be about us. Right now I’m calm. You want me to blow up? Is that what you want?”

Adams declined to answer when asked if he has cleared the air with coach Adam Gase or general manager Joe Douglas.

➤ TE Ryan Griffin thought he had a touchdown in the second quarter, but it was overturned after a review. It appeared the ball moved as Griffin hit the ground.

“It might have been moving, but it never hit the ground,” Griffin said.

➤ NT Steve McLendon left the game with a neck injury … TE

Chris Herndon (hamstring) was active but did not play. The Jets simply don’t have enough healthy players right now so they had Herndon dress.
