Leaders of the pack
Lamar Jackson is the man of the moment in the NFL, but The Post’s Steve Serby doesn’t have him in his top three when factoring in current play and career. Here’s a look at his top-10 QBs:
1. AARON RODGERS, PACKERS:
Lamar Jackson might make A-Rod seem as mobile as John Unitas, but Rodgers’ HOF arm (18 TDs, 2 INTs) hasn’t gone anywhere, and he seems to have a new BFF in rookie head coach Matt LaFleur.
2. RUSSELL WILSON, SEAHAWKS:
DangeRuss (24 TDs, 3 INTs, .673 completion percentage; 53-271-3TDs rushing) is battling Jackson for league MVP honors, and remember, his favorite receiver, Doug Baldwin, retired and he lost TE Will Dissly (Achilles) on Oct. 13.
3. PATRICK MAHOMES, CHIEFS:
He hasn’t won The Big One yet, but a 69-14 TD-INT ratio since the start of the 2018 season is good enough for me, and that dislocated kneecap hasn’t stopped the Brett Favre comparisons.
4. DREW BREES, SAINTS:
He hasn’t looked 40 since returning from thumb surgery, and he’s headed for a sixth straight season with a QB rating over 100. Sean Payton’s coach on the field is the NFL’s most accurate (67.5 percent) passer all time.
5. TOM BRADY, PATRIOTS:
I know, I know, only an 88.5 QB rating and the antithesis of the modern-day dualthreat quarterback, but he hasn’t stopped winning, and his 15-5 TD-INT ratio is impressive considering he doesn’t have Rob Gronkowski and his receiving corps is wanting after Julian Edelman. He’s slowly slowing down at age 42, but six-time Super Bowl champions tend to get my attention.
6. LAMAR JACKSON, RAVENS:
He’s become the socialmedia version of Zion Williamson — an electrifying, breathtaking video game highlight machine (.669 completion percentage, 24 TDs, 5 INTs; 124-876-6 TDs rushing) who has made a mockery of the notion that he should have been moved to receiver. His transcendent MVP season swayed me to move him past several of the old guard quarterbacks, but not The GOAT.
7. DESHAUN WATSON, TEXANS:
A natural-born winner and charismatic leader who has a 65-24 TD-INT ratio and 1,121 rushing yards and 12 TDs since becoming the starter — and you can accidentally kick him and make him a one-eyed bandit and he’ll still find a way to beat you. Like Jackson, 0-1 in the playoffs, but a rising star.
8. MATT RYAN, FALCONS:
An off year (18-10 TD-INT ratio) one year removed from 35-7 and three years removed from 38-7. Still Matty Ice in my book, even without that Super Bowl ring he should have captured.
9. BEN ROETHLISBERGER, STEELERS:
His 2019 season was shattered by a Week 2 elbow injury, but the twotime Super Bowl champ belongs in the top 10, and the club trusted there would be Life After Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell because of him.
10. PHILIP RIVERS, CHARGERS:
He appears to be fading at age 37 (15 TDs, 14 INTs, 7 of those in the last two weeks), but he’s only a year removed from 32 TDs and 12 INTs, and he will be in the HOF conversation, even without a ring.
