OFFENSE

What happened to the offense we saw last week against the Raiders? This time, the Jets could barely function. They had 168 yards through three quarters before padding their stats in the fourth quarter. The offensive line committed seven penalties, two that wiped out big plays and one from Kelvin

Beachum resulted in a safety. QB Sam Darnold (28 of 48, 239 yards, 71.4 rating) never got into a rhythm. RB Le’Veon Bell (10 rushes, 32 yards) had a big play wiped out by a penalty and was never a factor. F

DEFENSE

After some early struggles, the defense played better in the second half. Still, they had one sack and no turnovers. QB Andy Dalton (22 of 37, 243 yards, 88.0 rating) had wideopen receivers to throw to all day. The Jets generated no pass rush and their cornerbacks gave up way too much space. D

SPECIAL TEAMS

Darryl Roberts and Ryan Griffin each got penalized for holding on kickoff returns that resulted in the Jets starting drives at or inside their own 10-yard line. Punter Lachlan

Edwards (41.5 average) could not flip the field when the Jets needed him to. Kicker Sam Ficken had a good game, making both of his field-goal attempts. D

COACHING

The Jets looked lifeless after their first drive. There was no rhythm on offense and no pressure on defense. Adam Gase abandoned the run too early in the first half against a terrible rushing defense. Gregg Williams could not hide his defense’s deficiencies against Andy Dalton. F
