Lawyers seeking Dersh’s pedo file

- By EMILY SAUL

Jeffrey Epstein’s secret communications with attorney Alan Dershowitz — who helped secure the pedophile’s controversial 2008 plea deal — could be made public, it was revealed in court on Monday.

Lawyers for Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre told a Manhattan federal judge that they were seeking the privileged communications to prove Dershowitz — whom she has also accused of bedding her — had his own motivations for lining up the sweetheart deal.

Under the deal, Epstein was allowed to plead to a single count of child sexual abuse in Florida in exchange for a wrist-slap prison sentence.

Giuffre’s lawyer Charles Cooper said he would “seek discovery into Mr. Dershowitz’s attorney-client relationship with Mr. Epstein” as part of Giuffre’s defamation lawsuit against the renowned Harvard Law professor.

“If Mr. Dershowitz was involved with Mr. Epstein in the activities alleged, his communications with Mr. Epstein, and the motivations Mr. Dershowitz had to negotiate the plea deal that has become so controversial will be relevant and important,” Cooper told federal Judge Loretta Preska.

Meanwhile, Giuffre’s lawyers said they planned to file an amended lawsuit against Dershowitz under New York’s new Child Victims Act, which allows victims of childhood sexual abuse to sue their abusers even if the statute of limitations has passed.

Dershowitz’s lawyer Howard Cooper said he would move to dismiss the amended complaint.

“I think there’s irrefutable evidence she wasn’t a child and doesn’t qualify,” Cooper said.

Giuffre has said she was 17 when Epstein introduced her to Dershowitz. The age of consent in New York is 17.

Monday’s hearing also turned to discussions of a New York Times report detailing allegations that former Giuffre attorney David Boies planned to use footage — allegedly of powerful men having sex with girls — to try to coerce settlements.

Outside court, Dershowitz said he would happily release his communications with Epstein.

“I have nothing to hide,” he said. “It’s up to Epstein’s lawyers.”

Attorneys for Epstein did not respond to a request for comment.
