NANCY'S KICK IN THE 'GUTS'
WH: Pelosi too scared to send articles
The White House spokeswoman on Sunday blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her delay in handing over articles of impeachment to the Senate, saying the Democrats “don’t have the guts” to complete the process.
Stephanie Grisham told “Fox & Friends” that the Democrats “impeached a president who did absolutely nothing wrong, and now they don’t have the guts to see it through and send it over to the Senate.”
“Now she’s just going to hold on to these things. It’s like she’s taken her toys and gone home,” Grisham continued.
“It’s really, really unfortunate, because the president does deserve due process, and the president does deserve to be acquitted. And this country deserves to know that their president did absolutely nothing wrong.”
Trump, who’s spending the holidays at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, said the Democrats have no case against him.
“Crazy Nancy wants to dictate terms on the Impeachment Hoax to the Republican Majority Senate, but striped away all Due Process, no lawyers or witnesses, on the Democrat Majority House,” Trump posted on Twitter. “The Dems just wish it would all end. Their case is dead, their poll numbers are horrendous!”
Democrats claim Trump held up nearly $400 million in military aid to force Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to announce an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden, a 2020 political rival.
The House approved two articles of impeachment against the president Wednesday, but Pelosi said she would temporarily withhold the articles from the Senate until Majority Leader Mitch McConnell outlines a fair structure for conducting the trial in the GOP-controlled chamber.
Grisham said she doesn’t “see any positives” from Pelosi holding up the charges.
“I mean, this is dangerous for our country,” she said. “And I think the American people know that. So I think there are no — there is nothing good about anything with this process, let alone her holding onto things.”
Republican Sen. Ron Johnson described Pelosi’s decision to delay presenting the charges as “bizarre.”
“The case is pretty thin that the House is sending over to us — if they ever send it over to us,” Johnson of Wisconsin said on ABC’s “This Week.”
But Democratic Sen. Doug Jones said that if Johnson thinks the charges are “thin,” it’s because Trump stopped people from testifying before House investigators.
“It’s thin because the president of the United States ordered his top people who were in the room, who have first-hand knowledge, not to testify,” Jones said on ABC. “He ordered that documents not be turned over.”
