From the surf to slopes for Cardoso

Montauk’s Surf Lodge is adding a snowy cousin.

Brazilian-born Jayma Cardoso, who launched the iconic Surf Lodge 11 years ago, is expanding her cult brand to the Colorado sky capital .

The Snow Lodge, at the base of the Aspen mountain, will launch Dec. 26 and run through the end of April.

“It will be like the Surf Lodge deck covered in snow,” said Cardoso, in a phone interview from Aspen. “We’ll have a concert series, great food, great programs and then at night we have a really chic restaurant.”

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” she added.

The pop-up, she adds, is “a great way” to test the market. “If we do well, we will stay.”

The Snow Lodge will have two venues — an outdoor “après ski” lounge, which will run daily from noon until 6 p.m., and feature Swissstyle fondues in a space that seats 100 people.

Surf Lodge executive chef Robert Sieber has created the “mountain cuisine” menu, which will be executed by Chef Sean Olnowich, a James Beard honoree, who will be the culinary director.

Cardoso will also curate a concert series — live music and top DJs — just like she does in Montauk. In Aspen, she will partner with local music venue Belly Up. She’ll also bring to Aspen her art, fashion, wellness and chef collaborations with top creative talents that helped make her Surf Lodge brand so successful.

The restaurant will be designed by Cardoso and iconic Montauk tastemaker Bob Melet of Melet Mercantile, who designed the Crow’s Nest.
