Heading Off the Rails: The Left’s Subway Insanity

-

The antics of those who stormed Grand Central Terminal, vandalized MTA equipment, disrupted tax-paying commuters who were trying to get home and showed no respect for our police force are because of Mayor de Blasio (“Radicals’ rail storm,” Feb. 1). He has enabled these people to act like this.

As a taxpayer, I am appalled that these individuals are against hiring more police for the subways. Putting police on the subway to make it safe for those who ride it is the right thing to do.

The mayor’s total lack of support for the fine ladies and gentleman of the NYPD is disturbing.

Great job, Mr. Mayor. You destroyed this city. You are a disgrace. Michael J. Bosso

I was disappointed by the protesters who were arrested at Grand Central. Vandalizing MTA property, encouraging violence against police officers and hiding behind masks leads nowhere.

These Decolonize This Place anarchists are an example of what Theodore Roszak called “progressive adolescents.”

We need thoughtful, mature, prayerful, strategic, nonviolent acts inspired by the Dr. Kings and Dorothy Days of the world.

As a father, I try hard to teach my three children the importance of treating others with respect, working to get what you want and recognizing the consequences of your actions.

The group Decolonize

This Place, is nothing but a group of petulant people who want free transportation and, if they don’t get it, are willing to make life difficult for hardworking individuals trying to make a living.

This is similar to the bail-reform movement that has taken over our state. People who are suspected of breaking the law are not forced to face the consequences for their actions.

I hope this movement is not indicative of the future of our state. If it is, my next piece of advice to my children will be to live in a state more respectful of law-abiding citizens when they grow up. Matthew Shatzer

Here’s an idea: Let’s remove the NYPD from the subways for one week.

But when the protesters become victims of crimes (which they will), they can’t call the police for help. They’re on their own.

Our brave NYPD have much better things to do than deal with these cophating miscreants.

The demonstration against the MTA caused property damage and other disruption.

Yet the perpetrators who were arrested will probably just be released because of the bail reform. This is just another example of our officials passing legislation without caring about its effect.

Crime is on the rise, and politicians are still making excuses. Time to toss out this sorry bunch and elect legislators who care more for us than for criminals. Bill Isler

So the protesters at Grand Central think that public transit should be free. Do they also think that transit workers don’t deserve to be paid for their work? What absolute nonsense.

New York City is devolving into what seems like the most horrific temper tantrum.

Why don’t we give the public what it wants: government housing and food stamps for everyone. Noelle Albanese

All of the protesters arrested should be given community service and spend the day with our wonderful MTA workers, cleaning graffiti and stations. Mary Dunne
