A #MeToo Double Standard: Dems’ Blind Eye for Biden
THE ISSUE: Democrats’ lack of criticism of Joe Biden after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi has two sets of standards: one for Democrats and one for Republicans (“What’s the truth, Joe?” May 1).
The standards for Republicans are much stricter than for Democrats. She vilified Brett Kavanaugh when he was nominated for the Supreme Court. Democrats even demanded an FBI investigation over allegations he had assaulted a woman years ago.
Now that Biden faces sexual-assault allegations, she says, “There is also due process and the fact that Joe Biden is Joe Biden.” Exactly! Biden can’t keep his hands off women. I would not want my two daughters in the same room as this guy.
What happened to the idea that all women deserve to be believed? I guess she meant that all women deserve to be believed only if it’s convenient — only if you can use the information to smear an opponent. Walter Williams

Where are all the “we believe survivors” now that Biden is being accused of sexual assault on a Senate staffer?
Where are Sens. Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Mazie Hirono, et al? Where are all the Hollywood elitists? The latenight television buffoons?
They sure were fast to slither out from under the rocks when Kavanaugh was being publicly lynched by the Democrats. The double standard that the leftists adopt to give free passes to Democrats is obvious.

I think the only way to bring clarity to Tara Reade’s accusations against Biden is to have her speak before Congress like Christine Blasey
Ford did during the Kavanaugh hearing.
After all, it was Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, along with many other politicians, who said that all women should be believed. They all set the tone for all sexual-harassment investigations from that moment on. It doesn’t matter if fellow politicians believe Biden.
The big difference between Blasey Ford and Reade is that Reade has solid witnesses. And we have many examples of Biden touching women from behind. So please don’t tell me there’s no evidence of bad behavior. Matthew Galcik

It’s becoming clear Biden won’t be the Democratic nominee in November.
The cancellation of the New York primary is a first step. Party leaders realize he won’t win and want to replace him without giving the nomination to Bernie Sanders, and canceling the primary keeps Bernie from getting any more delegates.
Whether Biden pulls out citing health problems or is denied the nomination due to the Reade accusations, party bosses will pick a nominee
who is younger and not as left-wing as Bernie. Cynicism never bothers politicians.

With the media now taking a closer look at the sordid sexual-assault allegations leveled against Biden, I’m concerned that he is in the process of being railroaded in an illicit effort to sink his 2020 election chances.
The stakes are too high for Biden to unfairly and maliciously have a target placed on his back. The press has to play this straight, free from partisanship or political bias.
Simple fairness and human decency dictate that the media extend Biden every courtesy and benefit of the doubt that they afforded Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing.

Tara Reade (whom I do believe) may turn the election, just not in the way people think.
The Democrats (who are cringing at the prospect of Sleepy Joe running) may force him out and put up a more electable candidate. Gov. Cuomo? Gary Markman

Why are the media and top Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Speaker Pelosi giving Biden a free pass on Reade’s sexual-harassment claim?
Do they realize that by their lack of criticism — and Biden’s lack of transparency — they are making him ineligible to hold the highest office in the land? David Tulanian
