Blow to the Justice System: The Odd Flynn Prosecution

-

Anti-Trump forces are once again clutching their pearls, this time over the alleged politicization of the Justice Department and Attorney General Bill Barr. Both are being painted as political pawns of the president (“House: Step up to the Barr,” May 15).

Many political observers find it ironic to see those on the left and in the liberal media attacking and undermining the credibility and integrity of the Justice Department and the attorney general. After all, that’s the very behavior these same people have shown for much of the past three-plus years while routinely condemning Trump.

Then again, rank hypocrisy, grotesque double standards and selective moral outrage have never been in short supply among Democrats and the liberal media, have they?

What President Barack Obama and his Democratic henchmen perpetrated on the American people in general, and the Trump administration in particular, is so vile it needs to be dealt with in the severest possible way.

We are probably seeing just the tip of the iceberg at this point, and lord knows what we will learn in the future when we see the full results of the Durham investigation. Jerry Ciofalo Massapequa

I am appalled and profoundly saddened by the Justice Department move to undermine its own prosecutors in its case against Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty twice to lying to FBI investigators and Vice President Mike Pence.

This is a political move, orchestrated by Barr to help Trump divert public attention away from this administration’s inadequate response to the virus and to rile up the president’s political base.

Sadly, the Justice Department is moving in lockstep with a highly dysfunctional president and Republicans who have lost their moral bearings.

This is the same Flynn who riled up Trump’s base with the chant “Lock her up!” Let us hope that justice may be served by locking up Flynn for a very long time. Jagjit Singh

Does anyone really believe that the perpetrators in the former White House, FBI and mainstream media will be held accountable?

Don’t hold your breath. Obama is not a Teflon Don. He is a Teflon Con.

It must be very comfortable sitting at the helm of a crew hell-bent on taking down a duly elected president.

Everyone is acting surprised that Gen. Michael Flynn was set up and that our own government spies on its citizens. The

stink comes from the top.

All of these corrupt and arrogant people need to be taken to task and brought to justice.

The light is shining brightly on those who have done much to hide their nefarious ways. They will have to answer for their wrongdoing. You can only keep up an act for so long before cracks start to show and the foundation starts to crumble.

As Flynn’s prosecutors motion his judge to dismiss the case, US District Judge Emmet Sullivan, who previously called the decorated Army veteran a traitor, said not so fast.

He appointed former federal judge John Gleeson to argue against the dismissal. Gleeson already wrote a column saying he was in opposition to it.

A nauseating political bias has polluted that courtroom. It degrades public confidence in an independent judiciary and an opportunity for justice. Both Sullivan and Gleeson should properly recuse themselves or face complaints for ethics violations.

Flynn accepted tens of thousands of dollars from Russia and undisclosed amounts of money from other countries.

He then lied twice to the FBI about discussions he had with the Russian ambassador. Yeah, nothing to see here. Move on. That’s not a smoking gun. Is it still a witch hunt if you find a witch?
