Taking Voters for Granted: Biden’s ‘Ain’t Black’ Gaffe
Joe Biden proved that he is truly out of his mind (“Biden says anyone considering voting for Trump ‘ain’t black,’ ” May 22).
To publicly chastise African Americans as not black unless they vote for him is appalling.
Black Americans have to put all the phony promises aside and vote for what’s good for them.
Biden is trying to shame black Americans into voting his way, after which he and the party will throw them back into hiatus until they’re needed in four years. Hopefully the African American population will see through this charade. Storm Destro

Charlamagne tha God is absolutely correct to state that African Americans have gotten little in return for their longtime support for Democrats.
Being a Democrat alone is not an informed reason for an entire race of people to support you, as Biden seems to think.
Like Charlamagne, black leaders must start leading their constituents to hear what candidates plan to do for them and to vote for people who will actually develop policies to help them.
Supporting charter schools, improving regular public schools and creating greater employment opportunities are areas to start with.
Supporting those candidates who see you only as a voting bloc and will only fail you yet again while lining their own pockets should no longer be acceptable to African Americans. Gary Schwartz

Biden’s critical case of foot-in-mouth disease
reared its ugly head again when he declared that black Americans “ain’t black” if they are having trouble choosing between himself and President Trump in the forthcoming election.
His statement betrays not only his political arrogance, but that of the Democratic Party at large, which firmly believes that all blacks, women, Hispanics, homosexuals, Asians and Muslims share the prevailing Democratic point of view on each and every current political issue.
It’s an implication that black people can’t think for themselves and must toe the Democratic line. Alan Shuback
