Itching To End Lockdowns: We Need to Get Back to Biz

-

Michael Goodwin is correct in his assessment of the government’s decisions regarding what is socially allowed and who is essential (“Citizens’ freedom is most essential,” May 24).

Gov. Cuomo tells us that frontline workers have been wearing masks and fewer of them have been testing positive than the general population. Doesn’t this make the case for allowing people to go back to work wearing masks?

I would bet that a majority of those who are advocating slow openings have a steady income or a government job or have been deemed “essential.” They haven’t lost a nickel during this crisis.

The shutdown was put in place to flatten the curve in order to prevent hospitals from being overrun. Mission accomplished.

Goodwin is right when he says unless Republicans and conservatives remain vigilant, they will be relegated to history’s dustbin.

Decades of indoctrination of our children by progressive-left colleges has made socialism attractive to our young.

We deplorables must push back. A good start would be term limits for Congress. Politicians will place their own interests above those of the country so long as doing so can enrich them. Robert Mangi

Goodwin’s column hits the nail on the head. The arrogance of many bluestate governors — Cuomo, Phil Murphy, Ned Lamont, Tom Wolf, J.B. Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, etc. — is astounding.

Obviously, they fear Rep. Nancy Pelosi and “The Squad” much more than their citizenry.

I have a message for these governors as well as Democrats in Congress: The deplorables, the unprotected and the nonessentials see what is going on.

We see through your hypocrisy. We are not intimidated by your threats. We will run you out of office for the indignities that you foisted upon the American people.

Goodwin gets it right. Religion is an essential service. President Trump has sent a powerful message to the people. The socialist Democrats disagree because they simply don’t believe in anything but themselves.

I view the continued church closings and limiting gatherings to 10 people as violations of my constitutional right to worship.

Limiting church gatherings based on size and to persons who have been tested and are without fever, wearing a mask and keeping six feet apart is a prudent plan.

How simple it is to return our constitutional right to religious freedom and still provide for the public safety. James Foley

Goodwin salutes Trump for “ordering” America’s houses of worship to resume services, suggesting that by doing this, Americans will be able to pray again.

Goodwin seems to believe that prayer can only be accomplished through large group settings.

The Bible disagrees, as Matthew 6:6 tells us: “Whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father, who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

Social distancing is not a conspiracy. Social distancing is not an attack on personal, social or any form of freedom.

Social distancing is an attack specifically aimed at defeating the existential social and biological attack of the COVID-19 virus on humanity.

The COVID-19 virus is not a conspiracy, it’s a global reality.

In Goodwin’s excellent column he used the phrase, “Praying is essential.” If Joe Biden gets elected, it certainly will be. Even atheists will start praying.
