NFL: Ex-Bronco Little has cancer
Pro Football Hall of Famer Floyd Little, who starred for the Broncos, has been diagnosed with cancer.
Little, 77, a three-time All-American at Syracuse from 1964-66, spent his entire nine-year career with the Broncos and rushed for 6,323 yards and 43 touchdowns.
Roosevelt Taylor, a star safety on the Bears’ 1963 NFL championship team, has died. He was 82. The team said he died Friday but did not provide details.
ETC.: Burns takes Woodley down
Gilbert Burns defeated former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley to win a unanimous decision in the mixed martial arts promotion’s return to Las Vegas — albeit without fans in a gym on the UFC corporate campus.
The 33-year-old Burns (19-3) dominated Woodley (19-5-1) on his feet and on the ground, finishing his first main-event bout with the biggest win of his career and his sixth consecutive victory. The judges gave all five rounds to Burns, scoring it 50-45, 50-44 and 50-44.
The English Premier League was given government approval to press ahead with its June 17 restart, though players will have to stay apart during goal celebrations and disputes to maintain social distancing.
There have been no positive results from the Premier League’s fourth round of COVID-19 testing. The league says a total of 1,130 players and club personnel were tested, with the all-clear raising confidence around the planned resumption of play.
