‘Perv’ suit vs. film prof
A lecturer in NYU’s famed film school claims she was flashed and continually harassed by a pervy professor.
In a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit against the school, Lynn Boyarsky, 66, says she was subjected to a torrent of abuse by Tisch School Of The Arts colleague Arnold Baskin shortly after she landed an adjunct-teaching position there in 2013. The harassment included lewd comments and forcible touching and kissing, the suit, filed in December, alleges.
Baskin, an acclaimed film professor who died at 83, three months before the legal action, “began bullying . . . [and] using crude and demeaning, gender-laden language towards her — such as, ‘big mouth, big rack’ or the ‘tiny Jew’ with the ‘big tits’ — in front of faculty,” the suit reads.
Boyarsky, who spent 35 years in Hollywood before teaching screenwriting at NYU, says Baskin frequently warned that he could use his influence with the school to deny her a full-time position.
When Boyarsky reported Baskin’s behavior, administrators conducted a “sham investigation” which ultimately chalked up Baskin’s alleged behavior as “collegial banter” and blamed her for the abuse, she claims.
Boyarsky also accused top faculty within NYU’s Film & Television Department — including professor David Irving and department chair Ezra Sacks — of “quietly sanction[ing] Baskin’s acts of sexual discrimination and harassment.”
Boyarsky and her attorneys declined to comment.
NYU spokesman John Beckman told The Post: “The university promptly and thoroughly investigated [Boyarsky’s] claims. NYU disputes her claims of unresponsiveness and retaliation, and expects the ultimate outcome of the case will reflect NYU’s position.”
