NBA: ‘Black Lives Matter’ to appear on courts

The NBA and the National Basketball Players Associatio­n are planning for “Black Lives Matter” to be painted on the courts at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., for the league’s July restart, according to ESPN.

The WNBA is also discussing this for their abbreviate­d season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Harris English is the fifth PGA Tour player to test positive for the coronaviru­s. The positive test for English was part of the pre-tournament screening process at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. English did not play last week at the Travelers Championsh­ip in Cromwell, Conn. English said in a statement he feels healthy.

Arizona will pause bringing additional athletes back to campus for voluntary workouts as a precaution amid a massive surge of coronaviru­s cases in the state.

The school had one positive test among 83 student-athletes who had already returned to campus for voluntary workouts. That person is going through the athletic department’s protocol.

Michigan’s athletic department is projecting a $26.1 million deficit for the upcoming fiscal year. The school said in a news release it expects athletic department revenues to drop by more than $50 million for the fiscal year that starts July 1 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Hockey League says a total of 26 players have reportedly tested positive for the new coronaviru­s since voluntary workouts began June 8.

Monday’s update includes four additional cases among those tested at team facilities, to go along with the 11 announced June 19. The league says it’s aware of 11 other players testing positive outside the voluntary workout protocol. The NHL said more than 250 players who worked out at team facilities were administer­ed more than 1,450 COVID-19 tests.
