Among the lessons Collin Morikawa took away from missing his first cut as a pro was that his reliable cut shot had left him. He found at it Muirfield Village, and it sent him to a three-shot lead going into the weekend at the Workday Charity Open in Dublin, Ohio.

Morikawa ran off four straight birdies after making the turn Friday and shot 6-under 66. He was six shots ahead when he finished, but it was down to three after some remarkable play by Justin Thomas (66) and Kevin Streelman (64) in surprisingly strong gusts that followed the storm.

ETC.: Liberty rookie has coronavirus

Liberty rookie Megan Walker, was diagnosed with coronavirus before the team left for the WNBA’s season in Florida and has been self-isolating since, the team announced on Friday. Walker, drafted No. 9 overall, has been asymptomatic and under the care of team physicians and did not travel with the team to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. on Monday.

Flames defenseman Travis Hamonic is the first player to opt out of the NHL’s return because of coronavirus concerns. The former Islander has a daughter who was hospitalized with a respiratory illness last year.

Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill has tested positive for coronavirus. The team said after the 55-year-old Bidwill developed symptoms, he tested positive for COVID-19. His condition has improved and he’s expected to be released from the hospital this weekend.
