JAPAN

One vending machine is dispensing with cash and allowing customers to buy things with their face.

Japanese beverage maker DyDo has incorporat­ed facial recognitio­n software into its vending machines in Osaka that will be able to dispense drinks by scanning customer’s faces. All you have to do is sign up with your credit card.

In addition to a person’s mug, buyers will also need to punch in a four-digit code.

CHINA

An appendecto­my was not enough to deter one student in China from taking the country’s infamously tough SATs.

The student in eastern China’s Anhui Province was brought into the testing facility on a stretcher by local police.

Though he could not walk or even speak as a result of his surgery, the unnamed male student did complete the exam.

RUSSIA

Wild boars have started showing up in Moscow parks, prompting the city’s mayor to put out an official advisory.

“If you meet a boar, don’t approach it and don’t look it in the eye . . . if you meet a whole herd stay away from the piglets,” read the warning.

Boars can be dangerous to humans on account of sharp fangs and strong front hooves. An adult can run at speeds of up to 25 mph.

THAILAND

Thai officials are scambling to convince Europe to lift bans on coconut milk from the country over concerns about exploited monkey labor.

The imbroglio got going after a report from the animal rights group PETA. Monkeys have been long been used as coconut pickers, particular­ly among older farmers.

ENGLAND

A 26-year-old man in Cornwall, England, was arrested this week after biting a seagull who tried to steal his Big Mac.

He claimed he was being attacked for his meal and in response grabbed the bird and bit it.

The man told cops he was on drugs and was taken to a hospital.

The fate of the seagull, which flew off, is unclear, authoritie­s said.
