AOC: ‘Rude’ rep.’s ‘disgusting’ crack

- By EMILY JACOBS

Rep. Alexandria OcasioCortez was accosted and called a “f--king bitch” by a fellow member of Congress on the steps of the Capitol, she claimed Tuesday.

The incident, according to The Hill, occurred Monday when Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.), joined by Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas), was coming down the steps of the Capitol.

Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), meanwhile, was walking up the steps.

Yoho (far inset) told Ocasio-Cortez (near inset) in “a brief but heated exchange” that she was “disgusting” for her recent remarks tying poverty and unemployment to a spike in crime in New York City, The Hill reported.

AOC said she told Yoho he was being “rude.”

The two then kept walking their respective ways, but Yoho remarked after taking a few steps, “F--king bitch.”

AOC told a reporter who witnessed the exchange that it was the first time another lawmaker had challenged her so crudely.

“That kind of confrontation hasn’t ever happened to me — ever,” she told The Hill. “I’ve never had that kind of abrupt, disgusting kind of disrespect levied at me.”

Asked about the exchange, Williams claimed ignorance.

“I was actually thinking, as I was walking down the stairs, I was thinking about some issues I’ve got in my district that need to get done,” he said. “I don’t know what their topic was.”

AOC said in a tweet on Tuesday, “I never spoke to Rep. Yoho before he decided to accost me on the steps of the nation’s Capitol yesterday. Believe it or not, I usually get along fine w/ my GOP colleagues.”

She then slammed Williams, too.

“Gotta love Republican courage from Rep @RogerWilliamsTX: when he undeniably sees another man engaged in virulent harassment of a young woman, just pretend you never saw it in the most cartoonish manner possible and keep pushing,” she wrote before adding, “(He’s lying, by the way. He joined in w/ Yoho).”

A spokesman for Yoho told NBC, “He did not call Rep. Ocasio-Cortez what has been reported . . . Instead, he made a brief comment to himself as he walked away summarizing what he believes her policies to be: bulls--t.”

A rep for Williams could not be immediately reached.
