Boy, 16, shot dead on B’klyn hoops court

A 16-year-old boy was gunned down on a basketball court amid a spate of shootings Sunday that left at least five people dead across the city.
The unidentified teen was killed and two others wounded when shots rang out at George Walker Jr. Park in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, at around 6:40 p.m., according to lawenforcement sources.
The two other victims — a 17year-old and an 18-year-old — were taken to a hospital and listed in serious condition.
Cops were on the lookout for the gunman on Sunday night.
Just a few hours before that shooting, gunshots rang out in Woodhaven, Queens, where 40-year-old Shaka Ifill was fatally shot at around 2:15 p.m. on 91st Avenue between 84th and 85th streets, police said.
He was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead four hours later.
Elsewhere, just after 7 p.m., an unidentified 32-year-old man was shot and mortally wounded outside an apartment building on East 16th
Street, between Cortelyou and Dorchester roads in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The shootings took place amid another spate of gun violence in the city over the weekend.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, two more men, both unidentified, were shot and killed. Police said the first victim, a 32-yearold, was found with a gunshot wound to the right leg behind 260 Park Hill Ave. on Staten Island at around 12:45 a.m.
He was taken to Staten Island University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Shortly after 3 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a shooting in front of 2760 Bronx Park East, where they found a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Between 7 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday, there had been 38 shooting incidents with 42 victims — up from 17 over the same period last year, police sources said.
