Pence pounces on new Dem foe
Vice President Mike Pence tore into his new 2020 opponent, telling supporters that Sen. Kamala Harris represents the “radical left” with promises of “socialized medicine and abortion on demand.”
“Joe Biden and the Democratic Party have been overtaken by the radical left,” Pence told a Latterday Saints for Trump event in Arizona.
“So given their promises of higher taxes, open borders, socialized medicine and abortion on demand, it’s no surprise that he chose Senator Harris,” Pence said Tuesday.
Harris, a former California attorney general whose presidential bid last year is best remembered for slamming Biden on interracial school busing, appeared in Delaware with Biden for the first time Wednesday.
President Trump, meanwhile, again tore into Harris, noting her failed 2020 presidential run.
“@KamalaHarris started strong in the Democrat Primaries, and finished weak . . . That’s the kind of opponent everyone dreams of!” Trump tweeted.
The president also warned a Biden administration would spoil the suburbs with the reinstatement of fair-housing regulations.
“The ‘suburban housewife’ will be voting for me. They want safety & are thrilled that I ended the long running program where low income housing would invade their neighborhood,” he tweeted.
Last month, Trump scrapped the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing provision of the 1968 Fair Housing Act, a move that he claimed would protect property values in the suburbs.
