NHL: Lightning advance

In Toronto, the Lightning eliminated Columbus from the Stanley Cup playoffs in five games on Wednesday, rallying from a two-goal, third-period deficit before beating the Blue Jackets 5-4 on Brayden Point’s goal 5:12 into overtime.

Nick Suzuki scored the go-ahead goal with 10:59 left in the third period as the Canadiens beat the Flyers 5-3 in Game 5 to stave off eliminatio­n in the first-round playoff series. Game 6 is Friday.

In Edmonton, fourth-line grinder Tyler Motte scored two breakaway goals to power the Canucks to a comefrom-behind 4-3 win over the Blues. The Canucks can send the defending Stanley Cup champions packing from the postseason with a Game 6 win Friday night.

Patrice Bergeron broke a tie with 3.5 seconds left in the second period, and the Bruins beat the Hurricanes 2-1 to win the first-round playoff series in five games.

Nathan MacKinnon had two goals and two assists, Nazem Kadri also scored twice and the Avalanche routed the Coyotes 7-1, in Edmonton, to close out their firstround playoff series in five games.

MLB: Tatis HRs again, Padres win

Manny Machado hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Padres a 6-3 win over the Rangers in San Diego. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit his major league-leading 12th home run in the third inning that carried 419 feet to center field.

Tatis, who leads by two homers over the Angels’ Mike Trout, also leads the majors with 29 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

Royals pitcher Matt Harvey fell in his first start by giving up four runs in three innings as the Reds earned a 5-0 win to split a doublehead­er in Kansas City. ETC.: Bayern advance to final

Serge Gnabry led Bayern Munich into the Champions League final by scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Lyon in Lisbon. Bayern will face PSG on Sunday.
