Bum hammy for Bregman

The Astros placed AllStar third baseman Alex

Bregman on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right hamstring strain.

Manager Dusty Baker said before Thursday’s 10-8 win over the Rockies in Denver that the two-time All-Star would return to Houston for an MRI exam. The Astros have won eight games in a row.

Two more Twins on IL

Habs without Gallagher

Canadiens forward

Brendan Gallagher will miss the rest of the firstround series against the Flyers after being diagnosed with a broken jaw following a crosscheck from the Flyers’ Matt Niskanen. The Philadelphia defenseman has been suspended for Game 6. The Canadiens said Gallagher, 28, will require surgery that will cause him to leave the Toronto bubble. The Flyers hold a 3-2 edge in the series.

Broncos LB hurts calf

Inside linebacker Todd

Davis, the Broncos’ leading tackler in three of the last four seasons, injured his left calf during a padded practice.

Davis got hurt during team drills toward the end of practice, was helped to the sideline and then carted into the training room. He later went for an MRI exam. It’s the same calf that Davis tore last year on the first day of training camp. He missed eight weeks and the first two regular season games but still posted a career-best 134 tackles to lead he team.
