King’s double child tragedy

-

LARRY KING has suffered a terrible tragedy, Page Six has learned.

We’re told that two of the legendary broadcaster’s children have died in the last three weeks. Sources say that his son Andy passed suddenly a couple of weeks ago, and his daughter, Chaia, died Thursday after battling a chronic illness.

Chaia was 51 and Andy was 65.

King adopted Andy in 1962 after he married his mother, Alene Akins. Larry and Akins had Chaia in 1969.

“Larry and his three remaining children are distraught, and Larry’s still recovering from his own health issues from last year,” according to an insider.

Added another, “He did two live shows [of Hulu’s “Politicking with Larry King”]. It’s his way of processing.”

The longtime “Larry King Live” host is also the father to Larry Jr., from his second marriage, and college-age sons Chance and Cannon, from his most recent marriage to Shawn King, 60.

King wrote a children’s book, “Daddy Day, Daughter Day,” with Chaia in 1997, in which they both gave their perspectives on his divorce from Akins in 1963. He remarried Akins in 1969.

Akins died in 2017, with King tweeting at the time, “So very saddened over the passing of Alene Akins, who died peacefully with our children Chaia and Andy by her side. She was a grand lady.”

As Page Six first reported, King, 86, nearly died last year after suffering a stroke.

He told us at the time that in spite of his illness, he was extremely happy to be spending time with his children.

“I’ve got great kids, great family. Kids in

Florida, kids here,” he told us. “I’ve got it pretty good.”

He added, “I must be boring you with all this happiness.”

A rep for King couldn’t be reached.
