It’s official: Judge off injured list

- By DAN MARTIN

After getting seemingly nothing but bad injury news for much of this abbreviated season, the Yankees seemed to get a bit healthier Tuesday, when Aaron Judge was activated off the injured list from a right calf strain.

He was slated to be back in the lineup at DH against the Braves before the game was postponed by rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Before the rainout, Aaron Boone said he’d considered starting Judge in right field on Tuesday, with the Yankees off Thursday, but decided to play it safe.

Judge entered Tuesday with nine homers and a 1.101 OPS in 17 games.

The Yankees also put Luis Avilan on the 10-day IL on Tuesday with left shoulder inflammation. To take the left-hander’s spot on the roster, Miguel Andujar was brought up again from the alternate site in Scranton.

And with Gleyber Torres and James Paxton placed on the 10-day IL on Monday, the Yankees also called up right-hander Brooks Kriske from the alternate site to go along with Andujar and Judge to give the Yankees 30 players.

Andujar has struggled this season, unable to adjust to his new role coming off the bench as a part-time third baseman and outfielder. He is just 1-for-14 on the season.

Overall, Boone said he was encouraged by the status of some of the other Yankees currently on the IL.

“We like the progress DJ [LeMahieu] has been making,’’ Boone said of the second baseman’s sprained thumb. “Giancarlo Stanton [hamstring] continues to get better and better. We like what we’ve seen initially from Gleyber in his first couple days of rehab. He’s moving around better than I probably anticipated.”

And Kyle Higashioka (oblique) is recovering at the alternate site.

On the pitching front, Boone said Zack Britton (hamstring) is “doing well and it should be a short stint.”

Paxton and Avilan won’t throw for “another week or 10 days. We’ll see on that front.”

➤ Masahiro Tanaka tried to take advantage of the unexpected time off due to the postponement of the Subway Series. He’ll start Wednesday following a shaky outing his last time out against Tampa Bay.

“It comes down to mechanics,’’ Tanaka said through an interpreter. “I wanted to make some tweaks and adjustments to my mechanics and I felt like I was able to do that.”
