A shooting victim’s last words as he lay dying in his Woodhaven home helped the NYPD catch the Queens woman now charged with his July murder, court documents reveal.
Victim Shaka Ifill, 40, knew he was dying as he told responding cops that he had been shot in the back by his girlfriend’s mother, Suzette Olin, according to the new criminal complaint against her.
Olin, 55, of Far Rockaway, was nabbed in Woodhaven on Friday by the US Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, police said.
Olin is charged with murder and weapons possession in the shooting death, authorities said.
During a virtual arraignment Friday night, Queens Criminal Court Judge Jerry Iannece ordered Olin held without bail.
Her next court date is schedled for Sept. 23.
Olin’s attorney, Michael
Horn, could not be reached for comment.
Olin shot Ifill in the back on July 26 at the 91st Avenue home Ifill shared with Olin’s daughter, according to police.
Ifill (inset) was still conscious when officers arrived, but knew the end was near when he spoke to cops, according to the complaint, which cites police “bodyworn-camera footage” as additional evidence against Olin, along with “video surveillance recovered from the area.”
“I can’t believe she was arrested for doing that,” a next-door neighbor of Olin’s on Redfern Avenue told a reporter Saturday afternoon.
“She was pretty decent. She was alright. No problems,” said the neighbor, a man in his 30s.
“I don’t know how that happens — that’s crazy,” he said.
“She stayed to herself, we stayed to ourself — we try to keep the peace.”
