Pushing the Council Left: Socialists’ Primary Plan

-

The City Council has been compromised with socialism for a long time (“Hanging a hard left,” Sept. 21).

Most councilmembers are leftist Democrats who have been slowly turning things to their favor through the years.

A perfect example is when former Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito invited a pardoned terrorist whose group bombed the NYPD to the Puerto Rican Day Parade.

The future of New York is dim, which is why people are leaving in droves. The City Council is part of the problem and always has been, and now that the hard left has infiltrated, it can only get much worse.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would believe that the ideology of the likes of Stalin, Lenin and Marx could benefit the communities that the Democratic Socialists of America is pushing leadership in.

If people understood what the DSA is in the era of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, many constituents — often immigrants from countries under Marxist rulers — would be hard-pressed to find anything redeeming about their ideology and agenda.

People, the alarm has been blaring for a number of years, and hitting the snooze button doesn’t make it go away. Theresa O’Brien

Excellent lead editorial (“When Socialists Attack,” Sept. 22).

The far-left faction of the Democratic Party is out of control and hopefully losing the middle, sensible class of America.

When rioting, defunding the police, sanctuary cities, Green New Deals and open borders become your political platform, something is wrong.

I do believe that common sense will prevail,

and the average voter will reject those ideas and put us back on track to being “great” again.

America has been through a lot of hard times, so I don’t believe another group of misguided extremists can seriously hurt her.

And certainly not if we maintain our focus on our economy and the quality of life that America has allowed us. Kenneth P. Lebeck

I took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

I never imagined the enemy would be the extreme far-left radical Democratic-Socialist, Marxist and anarchist groups disguised as peaceful protesters. No Democrat will ever get my vote.

This is just what New York needs — Caracas on the Hudson.

If this is what AOC and her allies really want, why don’t they just move there and leave the rest of us alone? Leonard Chiat Pomona
